Holiday Walk and Waterloo Budget

Dear UB1 community,

Please see below for a reminder about our Holiday Walk and a message from our Councillor for Ward 1, Sandra Hanmer, about the upcoming City of Waterloo budget. The City is forecasting a budget increase over the next several years and is looking for feedback.

Holiday Walk

This is a reminder to please join us for the Holiday Walk, Wednesday, December 30th from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Enjoy the festive lights and beautifully decorated houses as you parade the UB1 neighbourhood with friends and family. Please stop by at UB1 for a fireside chat with neighbours, a hot beverage and a sweet treat. Please bring your own refillable cup.

We will be accepting non-perishable donations for the Food Bank again this year. If you would like to make an online donation instead, please visit The Waterloo Region Food Bank. The number of people accessing the Food Bank has increased significantly this past year.

We hope to see you there!

Cindy, UB1 Community Director

Message from Sandra Hamner, Councillor for Ward 1

On December 11th, at Council, staff tabled the 2024 -2026 Budget (Operating and Capital). As part of the budget process a number of meetings are occurring leading up to budget approval day February 12 2024.

The budget documents can be found at: https://www.waterloo.ca/en/government/documents-reports-and-plans.aspx

A hybrid community information session is being planned for January 9th 2024 form 6:30 – 8:00 pm. The meeting will be in person or you may join online. Pre-registration is required https://forms.waterloo.ca/Budget/Budget-Information-Session

There is also a survey about the budget where you can provide your input:

Engage Waterloo – City of Waterloo Budget Survey:

I would really appreciate hearing from residents in Ward 1 regarding the budget plans.

Comments and suggestions can be made during the sessions described above, participating in the Engage Waterloo – City of Waterloo Budget survey, or connecting with me directly.

Best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season!

Sandra
