Note that classes will run Monday-Friday. This will be specified at signup and on the lesson schedule:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Session 1:<br>Monday, June 29 &#8211; Friday, July 10<br>(No lessons on July 1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Session 2:<br>Monday, July 13 &#8211; Friday, July 24<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Session 3:<br>Monday, July 27 &#8211; Friday, August 7<br>(No lessons Monday Aug 3 for long weekend)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Session 4:<br>Monday, August 10 &#8211; Friday, August 21<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Swimming Lessons<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UB1 offers lessons for all ages and swimming abilities including Bronze Medallion and Cross preparation courses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pool Rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All children wearing flotation devices must be within arm\u2019s reach of their adult caregiver.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All patrons swimming in the pool must have on proper swim attire. All infants\/toddlers that require a diaper must wear swimmer diapers and proper swimwear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervision requirements for children are as follows:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Children aged 0-5: two children to one guardian (2:1),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children aged 6-9 who are non-swimmers: four children to one guardian (4:1), or eight children with life jackets to one guardian (8:1).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All children must perform a swim test (2 widths of the pool without stopping or touching) before being allowed in the deep end without a parent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children must be born in 2015 or before to come to the pool on their own. Otherwise they must be supervised by a person 13 years or older.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No one who has been infected with the following may enter the pool: open sores, diarrhea, athlete\u2019s foot, or any contagious disease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the patrolling lifeguard witnesses thunder or lightning, all patrons must remain out of the water for 30 minutes past the last sign of thunder or lightning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a whistle is blown to clear the pool (a long whistle blast), patrons should move quickly and quietly to the grass area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a member wishes to bring guests they are asked to please inform a lifeguard on duty.&nbsp; All children will be asked to do a swim test.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NO DIVING!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No standing or sitting on the pool covers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No standing or sitting on the flutter boards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No shoulder rides.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NO alcohol is permitted on the pool grounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No chewing gum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nut or nut products are not permitted on the pool grounds, basketball court or tennis courts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please keep food on the grass area and take all garbage home with you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please shower completely before entering the pool to help the guards keep the facilities clean and safe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All patrons must adhere to all pool rules, policies, and procedures or risk being asked to leave the premises by a lifeguard on duty.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Swim Test<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a child feels ready to swim in the deep end, he or she must show a lifeguard on duty that he or she is able to swim two widths of the pool without stopping or touching the bottom. It is up to the lifeguard\u2019s discretion whether or not the child is capable of swimming in the deep end safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inclement Weather<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pool is closed immediately if thunder is heard or lightning is seen and remains closed for 30 minutes after the last rumble or lightning sighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pool will be closed in excessive downpours of rain, or if the temperature is less than 17 degrees Celsius. This will be re-evaluated in four-hour increments (8am-12, 12-4pm, 4-8pm).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These temperature conditions will be following the University of Waterloo weather station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Members may check these conditions on the UW website themselves, check the UB1 website, Facebook page, or call the pool to find out if the pool is open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Whistle Signals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2 short blasts: <\/strong>A guard is signalling another guard.<br>Patrons may continue swimming,<br><strong>1 long blast:<\/strong> Please clear the pool quickly and quietly and wait on the<br>grass area for further instructions from the guards.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Book a Pool Party at UB1!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Private pool rentals will be available on weekends from 10am to 12pm during June (when the pool opens) through August. The cost is $200 +HST and includes rental and lifeguard fees for up to 35 swimmers.
