Mother Nature seems to agree today that it is time to close the gate on the 2020 pool season at UB1. And what a season it was! On behalf of your Board of Directors, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your patience, your respect for the new rules and protocols, and for your support as we navigated this unprecedented summer of COVID -19 together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As we close the year, I would like to take the time to thank our pool managers, Abby and Kate, for working tirelessly alongside\u00a0Jen (UB1\u2019s pool director) to\u00a0implement\u00a0the necessary COVID-19 protocols to keep our community safe during free swims and lessons, while providing equal opportunity for all members to use the pool. The guard staff,\u00a0Ben, Daniel, Emma, Lea, Marly, Ruth, Sophia, Taylor and Vanessa, were committed to making your time at UB1 as fun as possible despite the new rules; they\u00a0deserve a big round of applause. I know they also\u00a0missed participating in the many normal group activities with your families this year! \u00a0And, Sophia did an amazing job of creating a full agenda of virtual activities available for\u00a0UB1 kids. \u00a0I loved reading about them each Sunday. Tennis lessons were different on the courts as well with\u00a0Evi and Grady really enjoying their smaller group sessions. I\u00a0think the kids did too! \u00a0We are so lucky at UB1 to have a group of enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and caring young people that make up our staff. \u00a0I am sure I can speak for the UB1 community when I say we appreciate all of them.
With so much unpredictable\u00a0but necessary change this year we hope that our new weekly newsletter and up-to-date website were helpful. A thank you to Beth (UB1 secretary) who spearheaded our updates and to Gary Hesselink for pulling together the website and online registration form. \u00a0We will continue to update the website throughout the year as we move into\u00a02021 so please remember to use it as an information resource.
I would like to thank each of the Board of Directors, Steve, Jenna, Jen, Matt, Art and Sue, and Beth for their many long hours of preparation for this year\u2019s season.\u00a0A huge effort by all! \u00a0The reward was\u00a0a full – though different, fun and safe summer at UB1.
It was nice to see so many of you out for ice cream last week as the ice cream truck made its way through the UB1 neighbourhood. It was a fun and socially responsible way to celebrate the end of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is hard to predict what next year will hold for summer at UB1 so for now, we wish you a safe, happy and successful year until we see you again.
