Dear UB1 members,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on the recent announcement by the Ontario government to extend the stay-at-home order for a few more weeks, the tennis and basketball courts remain closed and the June 5th pool opening date is tentative. In the meantime, lots of work is taking place to get everything ready to open the facilities as soon as the government says it is safe to do so. You will notice that the UB1 grounds have been spruced up with the removal of some dead trees, lots of mulching and lawn maintenance. The pool has been filled and the tennis courts will be power washed this weekend. A big thank you to our new volunteer Property Director, Norma, our Maintenance Director, Matt, and our Tennis Directors, Art and Sue, and their team of helpers for all their work. Thank you as well to all the members who participated in the community clean up day earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Social Events<\/strong> The Spring Night Sky Talk led by Dr. Michel Fich from the University of Waterloo in April was well attended by UB1 members both young and young-at-heart. It was fun learning about the constellations and what to watch out for in the night sky. Thank you to the Social Committee and Cheryl Grove for organizing the event. Beth McLay
Need to split your plants or add to your garden? The Social Committee has organized the first annual Upper Beechwood Plant Exchange<\/strong>. If you have plants to share (perennials, veggie seedlings, or extra annuals), please place them at the end of your driveway on Monday, May 24th from 9-12pm. If you are looking for plants to fill up your garden, take a walk! Bring a wagon or your bike to collect any plants you need for your garden. Please see the UB1 website<\/a> for a map to the houses that have plants to share or to add your house to the map. Please wear a mask and respect social distancing rules. 2021 Fees<\/strong>
A friendly reminder to a few covenant members who have not yet paid their annual fees that the full pricing now applies. Membership fees can be paid by e-transfer to ub1treasurer@gmail.com<\/a>. Please use the password: 2021Poolfees<\/strong> and add your address in the note section. Fees can also be paid by cheque payable to UBHA#1 or Upper Beechwood Homes Association #1 and dropped off in the mailbox on the porch at 490 Clair Creek.
