Dear UB1 members,
Please see below for information for the fun activities, including the Ice Cream Truck night, planned for this week at UB1.
Pool News
Swimming lessons, aquafit and lane swim are over for the season. Please note that Aquafit is cancelled for Sunday August 28th.
For those children who participated in Maple Mission and Swim across Canada, please pick up your prizes at the pool office this week.
We are running the Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross course in the morning this week (August 29th-September 2nd) so the pool will be closed. Free swim will start at 1:00 pm Monday-Friday. As the sun is setting earlier, guards may ask swimmers to get out of the pool earlier than 8:30 if they determine visibility is poor. Thank you for understanding so we can ensure everyone’s safety.
On Labour Day weekend, the pool will open at noon. On Saturday and Sunday, the pool will close at 8:00pm. On Monday, the pool will close at 6:00pm. Monday, September 5th is the last day the pool will be open this season.
Thank you very much to our wonderful pool staff. Lia Heard, pool manager, did a fantastic job running the pool this summer along with lots of help from Ben (assistant manager), Meredith (head guard) and the rest of the enthusiastic guard/instructor team, Sarah, Aaron, Aiden, Ailidh, Emma, Jamie, Justyna and Tyler. Also, a shout out to Jen Hamilton, our volunteer Pool Director, for all the “behind the scenes” work keeping the pool running smoothly. Please take time to thank the staff when you are at the pool this week.
Tennis News
Junior tennis lessons are over for the season. If you are interested in any private lessons during the week before school (August 29th to Sep 2nd), please email Andrea. Special thanks to our tennis team Daniela, Tristan, and Ivan for their work this summer and to Andrea Molckovsky, our new volunteer Tennis Director, who did an excellent job organizing the lessons this season.
The tennis nets will remain up for member use and enjoyment of the courts throughout the fall.

Adult Party
Thank you to the members who joined us for the Adult Party night under the stars on Wednesday evening. It was a great evening and the blues band, Silvia Dee and the Boyfriend (silviadeeandtheboyfriend.com), were a big hit.
For those who are interested in seeing the band again, they will be playing at the Belmont Village Festival on September 22nd at 4:30pm. They also perform with a larger band, The Waterstreet Blues Band (info@waterstreetband.com).
A big thank you to Cindy Desbiens, our Community Director, for organizing the event and to the volunteers (Amy, Julie, Ted, Jenna, Monica, Beth and others) who helped set up and tear down for the event – the help was much appreciated!
