Ice Rink, Guard applications and Holiday Walk

Dear UB1 members,

Please see below for information about the neighbourhood ice rink, the tennis courts, the upcoming Holiday Walk, and a special note from our pool manager, Lia Heard, for those who are interested in working as a lifeguard at the pool this summer.

Community Ice Rink

The City of Waterloo will be installing an ice rink on the baseball diamond at Regency Park again this winter. The city supplies the boards, water and equipment. Now we need volunteers! We are looking for volunteers who can commit one evening per week (after 9pm) to scrape and flood the ice. We need lots of volunteers to keep the ice flooded. If you are able to volunteer, please fill out the online application (see below for the link) on the City of Waterloo website by December 1st. When filling out the form, please ensure that you fill out Regency Park as the ice rink at which you want to volunteer. Please note that volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Please also see the information about the Regency rink that show the hours for skating and for hockey.
If you have any questions, you can contact rink convenor, Adrienne Brown, at adrienne.r@gmail.com.

To volunteer, please sign up at the City Of Waterloo website by December 1st. When filling out the form, please ensure that you fill out Regency Park as the ice rink at which you want to volunteer. Please see screen shots below:

Holiday Walk

Back by popular demand, the UB1 social committee is organizing a holiday walk around the UB1 neighbourhood again this year to see all the lights and decorated houses. The event will take place in mid December (date to be confirmed)The walking route will likely be the same with Clair Creek, Branstone, Wingrove and Kingsmill (and maybe some other streets will be added!) on the route. There will be more details to follow soon.

Please contact Cindy Desbiens, our Community Director, with any questions or to volunteer to help with the event.

Tennis Courts

What a terrific Fall we have had! Thank you to all the UB1 members who used the courts this past season. Now that the weather is getting colder, the tennis nets will be removed after November 13th and stored until next year.

Lifeguard/swim instructor applications

Interested in being a lifeguard/swim instructor at UB1 this summer? We are now accepting applications for Lifeguards for the 2023 summer season.
