Inviting all UB1 kids to dress up and join the Hallowe’en (COVID-19 friendly) parade through the neighbourhood on Saturday, October 31st!
The Social Committee has organized a low-touch Hallowe’en parade. Instead of regular trick or treating, kids can parade around the neighbourhood in their costumes and pick up a goodie bag of candy as they pass the UB1 pool. The Hallowe’en parade will follow the route marked out in the map below (Clair Creek to Branstone loop). Families can jump on the parade at any time! Please follow the direction indicated on the map as each side of the street will be moving in a different direction. This will help with the flow for physical distancing.
How can children participate?
- The parade will take place from 6:00pm to 7:30pm on Saturday, October 31st.
- Please complete the sign-up form by October 22nd.
- Special goodie bags of candy will be made up in advance for each child who signs up in advance. The goodie bag will be waiting for them as they pass the UB1 pool. If your child has allergies, please contact Amy at amyinwaterloo@gmail.com so the necessary adjustments can be made to their goodie bag.
- Kids must be signed up to receive a goodie bag.
- Family members are welcome to join the parade.
- In keeping with the Regional and Provincial guidelines, we ask that you respect social distancing during the parade and wear a mask (not just a Halloween mask) to make this a fun, safe event.
- If the weather does not cooperate, check your email and/or the UB1 website to see if the parade has been changed to a car parade. Then hop in your car and drive the route! Honk your horn, play spooky music and have fun! Your candy bag will be waiting for you at the pool.
How can adult UB1 members participate?
- Dress up and come to the parade route to watch the parade or even make a sign for tricks as the kids pass by.
- We welcome candy donations! If you would like to make a candy donation for the goodie bags, please drop prepackaged candy on the porch of 344 Wyecroft on October 20 at any time during the day.
- If you live on the parade route, we’d love to see your best Halloween decorations and hear your spooky music.
- Please note, trick-or-treaters may still come out in addition to the parade. So, as usual, if you aren’t interested in handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, please keep all front and outdoor lights off so trick-or-treaters will know not to come to your house.
In the event that the current COVID situation changes, we may have to make changes to this event. By participating in this event, you understand that while steps have been taken to minimize the transference of COVID 19, you assume the risk of contracting the virus. Thank you for your understanding.
Please contact Amy Walbridge with any questions regarding the Halloween Parade. We wish you a fun and safe Halloween and look forward to seeing your families on route!
Thank you,
UB1 Social Committee
